William Penn’s sons, John and Thomas Penn, claimed a deed dating from the 1680s was procured from the Delaware Indians for an area that covered as much land as a man could walk in a day. As a result of highly deceptive circumstances surrounding the deed, a highly fraudulent treaty was forced upon the Delaware by the province of Pennsylvania, working hand in hand with the Iroquois allies. The resulting deception resulted in the expulsion of the Delaware from their homeland. A few years later, the Delaware reaped a terrible revenge during the French and Indian War.

Frank Salvati is a resident of Port Jervis, New York. He is a passionate student of the Indian wars, with a particular interest in the Northeastern United States. He is a popular speaker on the French and Indian Wars, the American Revolution and the War of 1812.
