Wednesday Night Lecture Series

Mr. Salvati relates the story of the very first treaty between the United States and an Indian Nation that resulted in a formal document amounting to a treaty of alliance. At the time, The United States of America was in its infancy and in the throes of the Revolutionary War. The new nation promised the Delaware Indians many things in exchange for their assistance serving in the war against Britain, including admission to the Union as the 14th State. As the war continued, the Delaware expressed their dissatisfaction with the treaty and as a result, their involvement and role in the Revolutionary War changed.
Frank Salvati is a resident of Port Jervis, New York. He is a passionate student of the Indian wars, with a particular interest in the North Eastern United States. He is a popular speaker on the French and Indian Wars, the American Revolution and the War of 1812.
