April 18, 2018 @ 7:00 pm - 9:00 pm
FREE
Please join Robert J. Honders, Sr., the Neversink Valley Museum of History and Innovation’s engineering consultant, as he explains how the D&H canal operated and what needs to be done to safely restore its source of water. Rob will present his talk on Wed, April 18 at the D&H Canal Park’s visitor’s center in Cuddebackville.
This is an important presentation in the efforts of restoring a controlled source of water to the canal and is supported by the Facebook “Wet the Canal” Internet group. There will be two presentations: at 2:00 PM and 7:00 PM and admission will be free.
Rob has been involved with the D&H Canal since the storm of 1985. He has been a consultant to former Parks Commissioner, Graham Skea, and built the Canal Packet Boat the Neversink Valley Museum used for tourist education and entertainment before the canal lost its water source. Rob understands the hydrology of the Neversink River at Cuddebackville and knows what needs to be done to assure a safe and reliable source of water in the park’s section of canal.
