SUMMARY:An Evening of Traditional Irish Music with "The Tara Minstrels"
DESCRIPTION:  \nThe Neversink Valley Museum of History and Innovation is presenting a concert of Traditional Irish Music with the wonderful local band THE TARA MINSTRELS. The concert will be held at the D7H Canal Park\, 58 Hoag Road in Cuddebackville\, NY 12729 Just off Route 209. The concert will be held outside under the pavilion behind the Visitor’s Center so bring a lawn chair or blanket and some bug spray and be prepared to have a rousing evening of Irish Music. \nThe name of the band comes from the Hill of Tara\, known as Temair in gaeilge\, it was once the ancient seat of power in Ireland – 142 kings are said to have reigned there in prehistoric and historic times. In ancient Irish religion and mythology\, Temair was the sacred place of dwelling for the gods and was the entrance to the otherworld. Saint Patrick is said to have come to Tara to confront the ancient religion of the pagans at its most powerful site. \nThe Tara Minstrels are focused on providing authentic Traditional Irish Music and entertainment in the tri-state NY\, NJ\, PA area. Unlike other “Irish Bands” they do not wear green all the time\, drink green beer\, or speak with fake accents. We simply play Traditional Irish Music as you would hear at the pubs in Ireland. \nThis Concert will be held on August 31\, 2018\, at 7:00 PM at the D & H Canal Park Visitor’s Center\, 58 Hoag Road\, (just off Route 209) Cuddebackville\, NY. Suggested donation is $5.00 for members and $7.00 for non-members. Light refreshments will be served. \nThe Neversink Valley Museum is open Sundays from noon until 4:00 pm through October 28 and by appointment.
