SUMMARY:Saturday Night "SILENT MOVIES ON THE LAWN" @ 7:30PM with Live Music by Jeff Weinman
DESCRIPTION:Silent Movie Night\nDuring the summers of 1909\, 1910 and 1911 a remarkable man with a big talent brought his troop of performers to stay at a little hotel in Cuddebackville\, NY owned and operated by Mr. Predmore and his family. 107 years ago the father of the motion picture industry D.W. Griffith along with Billy Bitzer his cinematographer with his wife Florence Lawrence\, Mary Pickford and her sister Lottie Smith\, Mack Sennett and nineteen others\, arrived on the train in Summitville and were whisked off to Cuddebackville in Mr. Predmore’s Car.\nThe Biograph Players were looking forward to getting up into the mountains away from the heat of the city and considered the trip to Cuddebackville a working vacation. The Caudebau Inn was a comfy place located just by the D&H Canal on Oakland Valley Road with one bathroom\, a tiny parlor\, rag rugs and a generous sized dining rooms. Holding around eighty guests at capacity.\nThe first two pictures planned were two Native American themed pictures The Mended Lute and The Indian Runner’s Romance which Griffith filmed simultaneously at an Indian Village built on the shore of the Neversink River and canoe races filmed on The Basin of the D&H.\nJoin us at The Neversink Valley Museum for a celebration of the Silent Films made right here in Cuddebackville.\nWe will be on the lawn under the stars behind the Museum Building at 26 Hoag Road in Cuddebackville\, NY. We have a wonderful performer Jeff Weinman who will be playing the piano starting at 7:30pm\, once the sun goes down (sunset at 8:06pm) we will start the movies and Jeff will be preforming the soundtracks for all the Silent Movies. We will be seeing five of the over eighteen movies filmed in Cuddebackville.\nLight refreshments and popcorn will be served. $5 for members and $7 for non-members. Call (845) 754-8870 or go to our website @www.neversinkmuseum.org\n  \n
